Ever since the introduction of Android in 2007, it has shown a rapid development. It has now found its applications in a variety of other devices, not limiting itself to smart phones. Now, most of the devices we use everyday are powered by Android. Here are some devices which are rare and are unusual and they are proudly powered by Android.
#1. Refrigerator
Samsung has came up with the new refrigerator that is being powered by android. This new refrigerator is released earlier of this month. It runs only selected apps that help users browse recipes, create shopping lists and manage the expiration dates of items like yogurt and milk. The new refrigerator is named as T9000. The T9000 refrigerator has a 10-inch Wi-Fi-enabled touchscreen. It also includes apps such as Epicurious for recipes and Evernote for note-taking.
#2. Microwave Oven
Two companies namely Touch Revolution and Sector cube had come up with its unique android powered Microwave oven. These are fully automated Microwave oven and does not have any manual buttons. The apps are specially designed to help the users prepare their recipe.
#3. Air Conditioner
The new Panasonic’s X series air conditioners has an integrated Android. But what could you expect in an air conditioner? This android version has an inbuilt rmote accessing facility and you will be able to control the speed of the air conditioner through your smartphone.
#4. Washing Machine
With the new Panasonics’s smart app, you will be able to change the washing mode, ON/OFF the washing machine through your smartphone.
#5. Watch
Although, Sony’s smart-watch is very popular, there are many other companies that have introduced its Smart-watches. Some of the Android powered Smart-watches are Peggle-Watch, MOTOACTV and i’m Watch.
#6. Camera
Even before the release of Samsung’s Android Camera, there were many cameras which runs on Android. Some of the Android Cameras are “Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera”, “Nikon Coolpix S800c”. The main feature of these android powered cameras are that they provide camera app with enhanced features like Automated sharing in Facebook and Twitter.
#7. TV
With more connectivity options and the support of more number of apps like Skype, YouTube, Facebook and most of the Social Sites and games, the Android TV is more powerful. Onida is the first to introduce Android powered TV. Lenovo K91 is the latest Android powered TV
#8. Goggles
Through the introduction of Google Glasses, android has taken a huge step. Google’s Project Glass is one of the tech world’s more exciting innovations. The Google Glass is mainly developed for Augmented Reality Head Mounted Display(HMD). Some of the other Head Mounted Display devices are Oculus Rift, Recon Instruments MOD, Oakley goggles, Natalia Immersive Smart Goggles, etc.
#9. Robot
Robots mainly need a platform to perform some actions. In the recent inventions, android was installed onto the robots and was controlled by an app. It was even possible to control through another smartphone.
#10. Shoes
Anirudh Sharma (IT Engineer from Rajasthan Technical University), has developed a unique pair of shoes named Le Chal (Meaning “Go Walk” in Hindi) to provide non-obtrusive navigation for the visually impaired. The shoes are fitted with vibrators, proximity sensors and a Bluetooth pad which is turn is connected to an Android phone that calculates directions and real time location using Google Maps and also makes use of the phone’s built-in GPS and compass module.
#11. Webcam
Samsung developed webcams that can expand web functionality to HD sets with its wi-fi-enabled camera system. It comes with a 720p webcam for HD Skype video conferencing, web browsing, and several pre-loaded apps including Google suite software such as YouTube, Google News, and more. It runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
#12. Walkman
The next generation Walkman is represented by the Sony Z-Series Walkman with Android 2.3. The Z-Series Walkman provides an device equivalent to the Apple iPod Touch.
#13. In-Car Radio
Also known as “Parrot Asteroid”, introduced by Parrot.Inc the Car receiver with web service apps, voice recognition and hands-free telephone. Some of the integrated features are music player, GPS, Hands-free calls and Radio.
#14. Headphone
NOX’s wireless headphones give you a 2.4-inch colour touch screen on the left ear-cup. With the magic of Android and WiFi, you can download and run any Android music app, including VoIP apps. They deliver glorious 7.1 surround sound to your ears.
#15. Mirror
In passive mode, the Cyberture Mirror functions as a regular mirror. But this is no ordinary mirror. With built in digital display and Wi-Fi, the Cyberture Mirror provides real-time news, weather and the like, as well as augmenting itself to your reflection, giving you information on your health and even helping with your exercise form.
#16. HDTV Player
Diamond Multimedia has introduced its Wi-Fi enabled HDTV player with 1080p support. This even allows you to play games by downloading them from the Google Play.
#17. Braille Tablet
It might look like some Playskool beat machine, but you’re looking at the first-ever Android Braille tablet. LevelStar partnered with American Printing House for the Blind (APH) to create this note-taking machine for the blind, which features a Braille keyboard, smartphone integration, 3G broadband, and GPS navigation assistance. There’s even an option to download eBooks and have the Orion read it back. Users can also record vocals, jot notes, and saves files on 32GB of internal memory.
#18. Gaming Console
The Ouya is an upcoming video game console running Android 4.0 operating system. Ouya was announced on July 3, 2012 as a new home video game console. It has an 1 GB RAM with 8 GB of internal storage. It supports 1080p and i even has a Bluetooth Support.
