Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 5

While smart phones have been around for many years, it was the release of Apple’s iPhone that truly began the smart phone revolution. Apple was initially the only player in town, but Google struck back with the release of the Android operating system. While Apple initially held the early advantage, Android has now become more popular on smart phones. Despite the fact that the Android operating system is run on multiple phones, the Samsung Galaxy S3 actually managed to outsell the iPhone during a significant part of 2012. What are the advantages of the Galaxy S3 over iPhone 5?

#1. Bigger screen

Many users are satisfied with the 3.5-inch size of early iPhones, and many reviewers were pleased when Apple moved to a 4-inch footprint. The Samsung Galaxy, however, still dwarfs the iPhone with a 4.8-inch screen. While some have complained that the screen is too large to be held comfortably, users have shown that there are pleased with the added screen real estate provided by the Samsung device. When it comes to playing games, watching videos and performing other tasks, large screens have inherent advantages over smaller screens.

#2. Android ecosystem

Apple’s ecosystem dates back to the iPod and iTunes. One of the reasons Apple jumped into the smart phone realm before others is based on their large user base. Because so many people are tied to iTunes, Apple can afford to take risks and release new devices as quickly as technology can support them.

Many, however, have come to see iTunes as outdated and clunky. The Galaxy, on the other hand, sports a more open, hands-off ecosystem based around Google’s suite of tools. For those who are not already tied to iTunes, the ecosystem offered by Samsung can be more attractive.

#3. Preparing for the future

When it comes to Apple products, it is clear that only high-end users are targeted. Despite the success of Apple’s computers in the late 70s and early 80s, cheaper PCs came to dominate. While this has led Apple to be a relatively small player in the desktop and laptop realm, Apple’s profits have remained high.

Many believe that the same pattern well hold in the smart phone realm, and Android looks poised to continue to grow its market share. While some believe that Apple may take steps to attract the middle and lower price points, Apple will likely continue to target high price point. As a result, Android operating system may become the dominant force in the smart phone field. Users who switch early will be better prepared to take advantage of the burgeoning popularity.

#4. Reputation

The Galaxy S3 is the most successful Android phone by large margin. Many people who purchase smart phones have little experience with other devices, and they may be reluctant to pick up a particular model that they have not seen in person. Because of its popularity, the Galaxy S3 is easy to spot, and this familiarity makes people more likely to purchase it. Popularity begets more popularity, and the Galaxy S3 has reached the critical mass necessary to attract users based solely on reputation.

I agree with you. Now-a-days, people are losing the craze for iPhones and moving towards the next best things. Thereby, S3 remains a winner. S4 fever is on!… :-)
